Ēkubirojs is pleased to announce that we are now an official member of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy, joining thousands of local and regional actors across Europe in the collective mission to accelerate the transition toward climate neutrality, energy efficiency, and climate resilience.

Why It Matters
The Covenant of Mayors is the largest European movement of its kind, bringing together over 10,000 local authorities who voluntarily commit to implementing EU climate and energy objectives in their territories. For us at Ēkubirojs, this is more than a formality — it’s a declaration of our long-term commitment to working with residents, municipalities, and stakeholders in Latvia and across the Baltic region to promote sustainable building renovation and empower local communities.
Our Local Action, European Impact
Ēkubirojs works closely with municipalities, residents, cooperatives, and energy service providers to enable socially inclusive renovation processes. Through initiatives like one-stop-shops and innovative financing models, we help turn European goals into practical action on the ground.
As part of the Covenant of Mayors, we aim to:
- Support municipalities in developing Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs)
- Facilitate peer-to-peer learning and knowledge exchange across the Baltic region.
- Promote inclusive and accessible renovation journeys, particularly in multi-family buildings.
- Advocate for stronger local and national policy support for deep renovation and climate adaptation.
A Shared Baltic Mission
Membership in the Covenant of Mayors reinforces our role in broader networks such as EU Peers and the Baltic Community of Practice, where collaboration across borders is key to solving shared challenges. The Baltic countries face common issues: ageing housing stock, energy poverty, and climate vulnerability. Through coordinated efforts, we can find solutions that scale and strengthen the resilience of entire regions.
Looking Ahead
This membership is both an endorsement of our work and an invitation to do more. As we move forward, we will continue to align our activities with the Covenant’s values, focusing on participation, ambition, and progress.
We believe that climate action begins at home — in every building, every community, and every town.
