Applications are open until 31 August for the EU Peers mentoring programme, running from September to November. This unique initiative connects participants with leading European experts in sustainable renovation, community energy solutions, and climate policy. Through practical, hands-on guidance, participants will gain tools to strengthen local action, support energy communities, and address the needs of the most vulnerable.
From September to November, selected participants will take part in a tailored mentoring journey led by five experienced professionals:
- Tara McCarthy – Industrialised Construction Value Chain & Renovation Manager at GreenWin, Environmental Advisor, and Sustainability Innovator.
Topic: Creating value for customers and renovation actors by strengthening skills and capacities. Tara’s mentoring will focus on practical methods for enhancing collaboration, building innovation into renovation projects, and delivering long-term benefits for clients and the sector. - Maria M. Font – Architect and project manager for on-site energy-efficient renovations, Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
Topic: OSS support for energy communities, addressing energy poverty, and business model creation. Maria will guide participants through strategies to empower communities, combat energy poverty, and develop viable models for long-term impact. - Máirtín Ó Méalóid – General Manager of Ecovision/ECTC, with three decades of community development experience.
Topic: Managing citizen-led renovation OSS and community organisations, including non-for-profits. Máirtín will share lessons from leading Ireland’s first fully electric community transport system and building citizen-driven energy initiatives from the ground up. - João Pedro Gouveia – Principal Researcher at the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research (CENSE) and Thematic Line Coordinator at CHANGE – Global Change and Sustainability Institute.
Topic: Energy poverty with a focus on innovative ways to reach the most vulnerable. João will explore policy, research, and on-the-ground approaches to ensure the energy transition benefits those who need it most. - Nils Daugaard – Sustainable Energy Planner and coordinator of several EU projects.
Topic: Supporting municipalities in establishing OSSs aligned with SECAPs, with a focus on green heating and the COHEAT toolbox. Nils will present tools and strategies for integrating climate action plans with practical, municipality-led heating and renovation solutions.
Through expert-led sessions, the programme will blend actionable frameworks, case studies from EU-funded projects, and direct peer-to-peer knowledge exchange. Each participant will leave with tailored solutions to implement immediately in their own work.
